Party at the Pub – Barracuda Party

Standard

Hey Party Go-ers

I had the MASSIVE honour of being invited to the Party at the Pub (Barracuda) Christmas Party! “A Christmas Party at this time of year?! ” I hear you cry, well to be honest that was my response as well, but the hospitality industry and Christmas kind of go hand in hand and now the streamers, fake snow and baubles have cleared, I guess they can all breathe and cut loose.

I have un-knowingly blogged about a number of Barracuda pubs including the whole Varsity chain, The Alchemist in London, The Albi in Manchester, The Capitol in Bolton and even The Abbey in Liverpool.  So when my invitation for the Barracuda Pub Managers Ball popped up I grabbed it with both hands and ran up to Loughborough.

The party had a Hollywood theme to it and I liked the little touches such as the giant Oscars, casino tables and the film prop statues. You know what else I liked? The nearly free bar, what a result! What with a dedicated Bacardi Mojito bar, a free for all bar and the shot/J-bomb waitresses, I’ve never had so much alcohol in front of me. Surprisingly I took the sensible option and only had a few drinks (HONESTLY, I was actually really good!!).

Fully enjoyed the Barracuda Pub Group Awards, and it was nice to see that everyone’s hard work was being acknowledged and rewarded.

Some bright spark decided a foam machine would be a GREAT idea. Note to self, don’t mix new suede shoes and foam together. I don’t know why I bothered doing my hair, one minute in that stuff was enough to strip nearly half my make – up off and de-fluffed my hair. I have to say I do love a good foam party though, it brought me back to my Uni days!

I’ll let the photos do the rest of the talking.

Bacardi Cocktail Testing

Bacardi Cocktail testing

I love a good cocktail….how can you not! I always feel so girly and some cocktails look like mini works of art. My personal cocktail fav is an appletini or peach bellini. So when I heard that one of my favourite pubs had a new cocktail menu, I just HAD to try them. It would be rude not to really wouldn’t it!

Venue: The Vineyard, very close to Angel tube station, and it’s a cute little pub, perfect on these horrifically cold evenings.

The new cocktail list looked very tasty; I was torn between a couple of new recipes. The Velvet Elvis was calling to me. Apparently it’s a favourite at Justin Timberlake’s restaurant ‘Southern Hospitality’ in Memphis Tennessee. The menu promised it would rock my taste buds with a mixture of Jack Daniels, raspberry liqueur and topped up with lemonade and fresh lemon juice. I’m not a huge fan of Jack Daniels so decided against it in the end – it does crazy things to me!

There were 3 Bacardi based cocktails which were made to be shared with friends, as I had brought a couple of lovely ladies with me; I thought sharing would be good. There was one other factor which made me go for the Bacardi cocktails…they were served in suitcases and welly boots!!

Anything served in a weird in-animate object and I’m there! So we picked the Spiced Raspberry Mojito, which was made up of Chambord black raspberry liqueur and Bacardi Oakheart spiced rum, fresh mint and fresh-pressed lime juice topped with refreshing soda. Sounds yummy but it tasted even better! I could have drunk the whole case myself. I would give the raspberry mojito a solid 9/10.

Going...

Going.......

I LOVE raspberries, the only reason it’s not a 10 is because I want MOOOOOOORE! The case it comes it is really awesome, so different, I’ve never seen something like that before and I can see why they asked for £30 deposit before you ordered it which of course I promptly got back when I returned it empty at the bar…..with a heavy heart – It would look so cool in my flat.

Gone!

The second cocktail was the Bacardi Spiced Ginger Mojito which was made using Bacardi Oakheart spiced rum with fresh mint and fresh-pressed lime juice topped with fiery Ginger Beer.

Booty-licious (that was a cheesy caption sorry!)

Again, I don’t normally like ginger beer but the girls in my party did, and they seemed to love it. It wasn’t my fav but it was quite nice one to share, I wouldn’t drink a whole welly myself, (there’s one sentence I thought I’d never say!) I give the Spiced Ginger a 7/10, nice and fizzy with a good kick but ginger beer isn’t really my bag or boot!
